Separation is a mesotrophic lake which simply means it offers daytime fishing like no other waters in the area. It's a river system which is the best type of waters to fish as it holds a lot of fish, plus big fish, two to eight pound walleye are very common, a fair amount of nine to twelve pound northerns. Some getting up to fifteen and twenty pounds, this lake also has some excellent smallmouth fishing. The camp is very peaceful, with beautiful scenic country. After being here, your only regret will be "having to wait until your next trip to return once again to Separation Lake." Well I did return for a week in Aug 2005. But on the way there we went deer hunting. All you needed was a vehicle and a drivers licence, and yes folks we did bag a young buck. We arrived at the landing late at night. We loaded the waiting boat and the experienced guide took us through the darkness to the Lodge. Boy I'm glad he has done this a 1,000 times before. (ARE WE HAVING FUN YET????). Although the water was high from recent rains, we had an exceptional guide who I've known for 15 years. He knew of all the hot spots. With him shore lunch was Walleye cooked different each day, from Cajun to Beer Batter. (UM, UM, UM, GOOD) The biggest Walleye for the week was 27 Inches, The Biggest Smallmouth was 5LBS, the Biggest Northern was 40 Inches. Our trip was great due to the Accomadations and the Expererinced Personal. Gregg and I have been fishing Canada for 27 YEARS we brought 2 that have never beeen to Canada fishing before. Rich's comment was on the trip was: ,( THE LODGE WAS TOOOO REMOTE FOR ME). Robs Commment Was: (I Love to come back next year but I have other Family Obligations, which is going back to Separation Lake with the family.) I Hope Rich and Rob's 1st fishing trip to Canada was unforgetable. (AND I'M SURE IT WAS.) Personally I can't wait to return to Separation Lake Lodge.
